3 Treasurer’s Report: In the absence of PR, TA reported a balance of £2116.98.

4 Action Plan

  • Wildflower meadow – A few crocus have appeared. PB has arranged for the cutting in April. Keep removing docks.
  • Trees/Hedges – TLC have a multi-stemmed Betula. TH to identify planting position. This will complete the new copse. Four trees are to be replaced following damage by vandalism. Unfortunately like for like are not available but it was agreed that two cherries would replace the trees adjacent to the wildflower meadow. A pyrus and a sorbus would replace those on the left of the path. AS to notify TLC. TLC have completed the cutting of the laurel hedge and have replaced the broken ties on three trees and AA has completed 50% of the beech hedge on the school side.
  • School bed – Further pruning of laurel, wild roses & phormiums required. Hebes have been pruned. The outstanding plant order, asclepias, and astrantia from PB will be delivered in time for planting on 25th March. At that time we can assess what, if any, further plants are required. It was suggested that the leaf compost be turned over. Regular maintenance continues. Note frost damage to phormiums.
  • Wet beds – TH will trial any suitable plants that members can supply.
  • Centre bed – most major pruning completed (except Phlomis). New geum “Prinses Juliana” will be planted on 25th March, replacing some of the geranium. 50% of cornus is pruned. Regular maintenance continues
  • Optician’s bed – regular maintenance continues.
  • Compstall Rd – Collapsed boundary will prevent some pruning etc, Phormiums badly damaged by frost. Regular maintenance required. Possibly fill gaps with geraniums from centre bed.
  • Carlton Ave – Shrubs & yew require pruning, otherwise weeding etc.
  • Tubs – TH confirmed funding from the Lions (Many thanks for their continued support) for plants. JB will organise and seek to locate small shrubs to add a little height.
  • Seeds – TA has a selection of seeds from RHS and will germinate prior to bringing some plants to the park.
